"Creating Art helps me to understand my existence in the universe"
The Art of the Invisible
Illuminations. 120 x 150 cm. Mixed media on canvas.
Drawing on influences as wide ranging as William Blake and the astrophysical theory of Laniakea as a map of the Universe, this work is a meditation on the various forces that constitute our very being and existence in space and time. It is a contemplation of String theory which is based on Plato's observations of vibrating strings on musical instruments which contemporary physics recognises in the forces contained in sub-atomic particles, the vibrations within these particles likened to vibrating rubber bands. Energy manifests as matter in particular vibrational conditions and patterns
About my art
My work is concerned with change, decay, destruction and the passage of time. It also specifically deals with the vulnerability and recovery of nature. It is only over the last eight years that I have been able to paint full time, although I have been an active artist in many media since the age of nineteen as well as various periods of operating fringe galleries and facilitating art, poetry and experimental music events.
